Description

The White House, dating to circa 1842, was originally built as a workhouse. It comprises two and three-storey ranges that form courtyards. The two-storey entrance front has five windows and is flanked by single-storey ranges. The building has slated hipped roofs with projecting bracketed eaves. The walls are of gault brick and feature dentil cornices below the eaves and horizontal floor bands. Recessed sash windows with glazing bars are set within gauged flat and segmental brick arches. The square-headed entrance has a console-bracketed hood and a double-panelled door.
