Description
Mill Bank Cottage is a cottage that was formerly the lock keeper's cottage, dated 1788, as indicated by a plaque with the name J Compton and a moulded cornice above the window. The cottage was renovated in 1986 and is constructed of dressed limestone with freestone and ashlar dressings. It features a Collyweston stone slated roof and a brick stack on the right side. The building has keystones and gauged stone flat arches for the windows and doors. There is a 20th-century door with a canopy, which is accessed by steps on the left side. A former segmental planned bay window with hung sashes and shutters has been replaced by a 20th-century casement window on the right side. The interior plan has been modified, including a 20th-century staircase. The cottage is included for its group value.
