Description

This barn, built around 1844 shortly after the Enclosure, is located to the north of Hardwicke Farmhouse and is attached to stables. It is constructed from locally fired red brick and features a hipped slate roof with six bays. The south-facing elevation has two high double entries with elliptical arches and geometric ventilation holes. Inside, there are two thrashing floors, with tie beams supported by brick buttresses that have arch braces and Queen struts to the side purlins. Additionally, two rows of contemporary stables, also made of red brick with slate roofs, form the east and west boundaries of the stock yard.
