Description

The Forge is a 17th-century house located on the south-west side of High Street, Hemingford Abbots. It is a timber-framed building, now rough-cast rendered, with an old, plain tile roof. A prominent stack of small red and yellow bricks sits centrally. The house is two storeys high. At the first floor are two three-light horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has two hung sashes with glazing bars flanking a central door consisting of six panels. A two-storeyed colour-washed brick and pantiled extension, originally a store for the blacksmith, adjoins the house to the west.
