Description
Springfields is a red brick house, likely built around 1710, although it has plaques dated 1600 and 1741. The house features a plain tiled roof with a parapet gable and end stacks, and it is two storeys high with a one-storey section. The garden facade has four ranges of hung sash windows with moulded glazing bars set in cambered arches. The west facade includes a semi-circular headed arch leading to a sealed staircase window. There is an early 18th-century single-storey wing with attics on the right side, also made of red brick and topped with a plain tiled roof that has two hipped dormers.
Inside, the ground-floor left-hand room showcases raised and fielded panelling, a moulded cornice, and a panelled door. The central room features moulding on the soffit of the main beam, a corner cupboard with fluted pilasters, dentil moulding on the cornice, and a shell hood, along with a dog cupboard below. A closed string staircase with turned balusters adds to the interior detail. There is also a single-storey modern extension to the west.
