Description
The Pilgrim's Rest Almshouses, built around 1885, are a group of almshouses designed in the cottage orne style. They are single-storey buildings, each with one window, and feature tiled hipped roofs. Nos. 26 and 30 have projecting gabled fronts adorned with ornamented barge boards. The structures are made of gault brick with yellow brick dressings. Nos. 26 and 30 include projecting bay windows, while Nos. 28 and 32 have gauged flat brick arches over recessed casement windows. Each house has a recessed doorway with five-centred heads. Granite plaques are set into Nos. 26 and 30, commemorating the construction of the Pilgrim's Rest in 1885, which is associated with the Particular Baptist Meeting House at Crown Place. Nos. 26 to 32 form a cohesive group.
