Description

This is a row of four cottages, originally eight, dating from around 1845. They were built in a Jacobean style for the London and North Western Railway. The cottages are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and have 20th-century tiled roofs.

The row has two storeys, with slightly projecting end cross wings that have plain parapet gables and moulded kneelers. A moulded band runs between the floors. The window reveals are chamfered. There are two blocked doorways, one four-panelled door, six ground-floor two-light casement windows, and two three-light windows at the ends. The first floor features four oriel windows constructed of ashlar with moulded stone 'bases' and chamfered copings to the parapets, as well as four two-light casement windows. There are also two attic casement windows. Two brick stacks have been rebuilt.

Supporting documentation includes a plan of Wansford Station from 1878 and articles from the Nene Valley Railway Magazine.
