Description

The Village Cross, dating from around 1637, is an octagonal limestone shaft located on the north side of The Highway in Great Staughton. It features roll and hollow moulding at the angles and stands on a square splayed base, which has a later splayed brick plinth. The shaft is topped with a moulded cornice and a cube and ball finial. The cube has a gnomon on the south face and displays the initials "E.I" along with the year "1637" on the north face.
