Description
Church Farmhouse is a timber-framed farmhouse dating from around 1600. It has a three-bay, two-unit plan and features a 19th-century double pile brick extension to the northeast, which may have replaced a service wing. The building is two storeys high and has plain tile roofs with paired modillions at the eaves cornice. The main range, which is cased in red brick, includes three first-floor and two ground-floor recessed hung sash windows, along with a central six-panelled door that has a flat canopy supported by scroll brackets. At the rear, there are two side stacks made of limestone rubble and ashlar with brick shafts. The extension has a four-window range and a red brick ridge stack. Inside, there are two original doorways featuring carved guilloche band decoration. The original building has a side purlin roof with curved wind braces and two sealed hearths with 19th-century chimney pieces. The staircase was removed during a recent renovation.
