Description

Laurel House is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered farmhouse, originally with a three-unit plan and one storey with attics. An 18th-century addition was built to the east end, incorporating a cellar, and to the south, extending the building to two storeys with attics. The 18th-century street facade is characterized by brick gable walls with parapets, end stacks, rough-cast render to the timber frame, and a plain tiled roof with two modern dormer windows. The front features two hung sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, a central six-panelled door with a flat canopy and moulded architrave, and flanking canted hung sash bay windows. Inside, one room is half-panelled with dentil enrichment to the cornice and boxed beams. Two cupboards with eared architraves are flanked by an early 19th-century chimney piece. The rear kitchen contains a sealed inglenook hearth.
