Description

The Cedars is a house and stable block dating from circa 1880, constructed of gault brick. The building follows an L-shaped plan. It has a steeply pitched plain tiled roof with pierced barge-boarding and finials with ball pendants to the gable ends. Decorative features include paired brackets to the eaves and lions head mask decorations to the gutters. Two ridge stacks are present, featuring linked diagonal shafts and moulded capping. The house is two storeys high with attics.

The garden elevation has two gabled dormers with pierced barge-boarding and finials. Pointed arches frame the hung sash windows, which have two vertical glazing bars. On the first floor, flat arches are above two hung sashes with glazing bars, flanked by a small casement, and these windows have louvred shutters. Two embattled, splayed bay windows sit on moulded stone plinths on the ground floor, with moulded mullions defining their angles. The main entrance is on the north elevation, and a later addition is situated in an angle of the building.

To the west of the house lies the stable block, also constructed of gault brick, and featuring a plain tiled roof with barge-boards and an internal stack.
