Description
There are two chest tombs located 25 yards east of St Wendreda's Church, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. Both tombs are made of limestone and are rectangular in shape. Each tomb sits on a base and plinth and features two raised and fielded panels on each side, along with engaged corner balusters. One end of the first tomb has a low relief carving of an urn adorned with drapery and flowers, while the opposite end displays a cherub depicted as a winged soul within a cartouche decorated with C and S scrolls. The inscription on the top of this tomb is indecipherable. The second chest tomb is of a similar date and design, likely belonging to another member of the same family.
