Description
Jenyns House is a pair of almshouses built in 1851, as indicated by a dated stone. The structure features carstone slate walls, with gault brick and limestone dressings. It has steeply pitched slate roofs and nine tall square stacks made of gault brick, some of which retain original embattlements and have stop-chamfered corners. The building is two storeys high and has a front elevation with five bays, including three slightly projecting parapetted gables. There are two-stage buttresses on the sides. The central bay contains a doorway with a four-centred arch, a boarded door, and ironwork in the style of the 13th century. Above the doorway, there is a stone panel inscribed with "Erected by Trustees of March Consolidated Charities" along with the date 1851. The five cross frame casements have rusticated stone surrounds and leaded lights, with some featuring drip moulds.
