Description

This chest tomb, located about 20 yards south of the Church of St. Wendreda in the churchyard, dates from around the 18th century. It is made of limestone and has a rectangular shape with shaped ends. The tomb sits on a plinth that has a shaped top. Each side features bolection moulded, raised, and fielded panels. The corners are adorned with console brackets that are enriched with drops of fruit and foliage. The ends of the tomb have panels that are carved with an urn featuring a flame burst, along with ears of wheat and foliage. The inscription on the tomb is indecipherable.
