Description

The Three Blackbirds is a 17th-century inn, with a painted date of 1642 on a modern plastered wall. It is timber framed and has a thatched roof. The building features a ridge stack and a gable end stack, with a projecting baking oven. The plan is based on three units, with a rear wing. The front has two, three-light casement windows and three, sixteen-paned hung sash windows. There is a half-glazed entrance door in a lobby entry position. Inside, exposed ceiling beams are visible, along with mortices indicating the former position of a wall partition in the room to the left. Inglenook hearths are present, with mantel beams and relined interiors.
