Description
This is an early 17th-century cottage with later alterations. A bay was rebuilt and reroofed in the 18th century, and a further bay was added to the left side during the same period. The building is timber-framed and has a steeply pitched roof, originally thatched with reed, now covered with tiles. The ends have a parapet, and there's a ridge stack. The cottage is one storey high with attics, and has three 20th-century windows and two doorways: one leading to a lobby entry, and one serving a service bay at the lower end of the hall. The 18th-century additions are of yellow gault brick. Internally, the roof over the hall features a clasped side purlin construction with collars to the principals. Partition walls between the service area and the hall have curved wall bracing.
