Description

Dip Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage, possibly originally built as a pair. It is timber-framed with plaster rendering and has a thatched roof with a central ridge stack. The cottage is one storey high with an attic. Originally, it contained two open halls, sharing a red brick stack with two hearths and with lofts at each service end. Floors were likely inserted into the left-hand rooms in the 19th century, and the rooms are now modernised. The interior reveals light wall frames and exposed roof timbers, indicating the use of some reused materials. Records from 1953 note this detail.
