Description

The Hall is a house dating from around 1700, with a remodelling of the facade in the Tudor Gothic style around 1840. It is constructed of brick and rendered, featuring a steeply pitched plain tiled roof with an embattled parapet at the front, a moulded main cornice, and end parapets. The end stacks, supported by moulded corbels at the first floor, each have three octagonal shafts made of gault brick, rendered with capping and a string course, all dating to around 1840. The original L-plan includes a service wing at the rear. The building is two storeys with an attic and has a symmetrical front elevation that features three first floor three-light cross frame casements. The central doorway, set in a four-centred arch, has a boarded door with cover strips and is accessed by three steps with nosing. Two embattled canted bays with full-length central casements flank the doorway. The service wing is made of similar materials and also has a plain tiled roof with a ridge stack, and it is one storey with an attic. Beyond the service wing are a dairy and other outbuildings.

Inside, the house has a symmetrical plan, with a room at the east end featuring a main beam with 18th-century panelled boxing and a small plaster coving. The original open well staircase consists of five flights and two landings, with a closed string, square newels, a toads back rail, and turned balusters of the vase-on-vase type. The tie beam and main beams are substantial with broad stop-chamfers. There are also 19th-century details, such as white marble hearths. The house includes a cellar.
