Description

Rathmore is a late 18th-century house situated on the south side of Sutton Station Road. Constructed of brick in English bond to the gable end, the front is rendered, and the roof is a mansard design covered in plain tiles, featuring tumbled end parapets, a ridge stack, and flush end stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with two storeys and an attic. The facade has three dormers with sixteen-pane hung sash windows. Four sixteen-pane hung sash windows are present on the upper floor, and three are at ground floor, each set beneath a segmental arch. A round-headed arch frames the doorway, which has an early 19th-century doorcase with bosses at the corners and panelled reveals. The door itself is six raised and fielded panels, complemented by a fanlight with radial glazing bars. The west gable end displays iron ties with initials “TW” at the ends, while the east end has similar ties bearing the initials “WW.” The rear range is also brick-built, incorporating an end stack and a dentil eaves cornice.
