Description

Glebe Lodge is a house built in the 18th century, with a rear range added around 1830. It is constructed of gault brick and features a plain tile mansard roof at the front and a slate roof on the rear range. The building has gault brick stacks and consists of a single storey and attic front range, along with a two-storey and basement rear range. The front has a total of four windows, including two 6/6 sash windows on the left under brick lintels and a similar sash window on the right. There is a door to the centre right set within a Tudor-arched stone surround, with a small window to the left. Above, there are four dormer windows with 3/3 sashes.

The large rear range, which has a hipped roof and bracketed eaves, faces the garden and features four 6/6 sash windows above four pairs of French windows with margin glazing. A notable feature along the entire length of this range is a fine cast-iron verandah, adorned with honeysuckle details, and there is cast-iron balustrading in part. Various sash windows are located at the ends of the range.

Inside, the house includes features such as windows and doors with panelled reveals, mainly consisting of four-panel doors, although some earlier six-panel doors are present. The staircase hall features a stick baluster dogleg stair with a mahogany rail and a plaster cornice. The drawing room has a white marble fireplace and decorative plaster ceiling, while the dining room contains a black marble fireplace and plaster cornice. The kitchen showcases a chamfered bridging beam.

Glebe Lodge is an 18th-century house with significant interior features from the early 19th century and forms a good group with the nearby Church of St. Martin.
