Description
No. 30 High Street is a cottage with origins dating back to the 17th century, featuring alterations from the mid to late 18th century. There are minor early 19th-century changes to the brickwork around the windows and door. The building is constructed of red brick in English bond, along with narrow local gault brick from the 18th century. The original roof has been covered with asbestos. It has an axial ridge stack with a rendered base and 19th-century brick in the upper courses, along with a rendered parapet gable and an end stack at the south end.
The cottage is one storey with an attic, featuring one flat roof dormer that has small pane horizontal sliding sashes. There are two early 19th-century twelve-pane hung sashes, with the brickwork around them rebuilt, likely when the windows were added. The doorway includes a 19th-century door with six raised and fielded panels. At the north end, there is a straight joint where the brickwork is slightly proud of the wall face, made of narrow 18th-century brick in English bond. Additionally, there is a three-light small pane horizontal sliding sash set in a cambered arch, along with a 19th-century doorway and arch featuring a flush panelled door. The north end gable displays tumbled brickwork.
