Description

Northfield Windmill is an early 18th-century smock windmill originally used for drainage. It was relocated to its current site in the 19th century and raised on a brick plinth. The structure now functions as a three-storey corn mill. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding and has an ogee-shaped wooden cap topped with a ball finial. The original sails and fantail are still present. Inside, much of the machinery remains intact, including the windshaft, wallower, and main shaft. On the ground floor, the great spur wheel drives two grinding stones located on the stone floor.
