Description
This is an early 19th century building comprising two blocks: a main block (containing numbers 35 and 37) and a two-storey addition to the south (number 39). Both blocks are three storeys high, although the windows of the second storey of the addition have been blocked. The main block has a four-window front with double-hung sash windows featuring glazing bars, set in plain reveals and topped with stone lintels. A pair of central doorways have rectangular fanlights and plain reveals. The addition has a two-window front with smaller, five-light double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. Number 39 has a six-panel door within a wooden doorcase featuring pilasters and a cornice. The roofs are slate, with the main block having a hipped roof.
Numbers 35 to 39 form a group with numbers 33, the smithy to the rear, numbers 35 to 41, numbers 43 to 47, numbers 51 to 53, the melthouse adjoining number 53, number 55, the house adjoining number 55, and Quayside House, as well as numbers 54 to 64.
