Description
Nos 21 to 24 on Northampton Street are former Storey's Almshouses, built in 1729. This L-shaped block consists of tenements and a shop, featuring two storeys with attics. The building is constructed of red brick and has a tiled roof, with a band running between the storeys. It includes hung and sliding sash windows, hipped dormers, and a modern shop front with bow windows facing Northampton Street. The almshouses were established by the bequest of Edward Storey in 1693 to provide housing for the widows of clergymen. Nos 1 to 19 and Nos 21 to 30 on Northampton Street are part of a group.
