Description
The Crooked Billet Public House is a late 16th century timber-framed building with a cross wing at the east end. It was refronted in the late 19th century with painted brick. The structure has two storeys and features a five-window range of double hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars set in plain reveals. The ground floor includes three canted bays, and the roof is covered with 20th century concrete tiles. There are two chimney stacks, each with three square shafts set diagonally, with the lower part made of old brick, although it has been rebuilt. Inside, the building has exposed ceiling beams, one of which is encased and panelled, along with some exposed framing. There are also features from the 18th century, including a first storey room that has a well-crafted bolection moulded fire surround.
