Description

The sundial located in the paddock immediately west of the Manor House dates from around the mid-17th century. It is designed as a large stone block set on a moulded base, standing nearly 6 feet tall. The sides feature divided rectangular concavities that are diagonally set, along with concave hemispheres. The front displays a deep heart-shaped concavity. The top's front face is inclined forward and includes a divided rectangular concavity with semi-circular ends. This sundial was erected by Bishop Dove of Peterborough and is illustrated in Bridge's "History of Northants" on pages 228 and 229.
