Description

Lynch Farmhouse and the adjoining stable range, located to the southeast, is an 18th-century house that was remodeled in the 19th century, incorporating materials from the 16th and 17th centuries, believed to have come from the Drydens' House at Chesterton. The building is constructed of coursed stone rubble and features a Collyweston stone roof with gabled ends. It has an L-shaped plan and a tall circular turret at the north corner. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the northwest and northeast sides showcasing re-used moulded stone stringcourses and gables. The northwest side includes a two-storeyed canted bay window topped with an embattled parapet. Throughout the building, there are ovolo moulded stone mullion and transom windows. The northeast side features a fielded panel door with a keystone and a cast iron porch with a tent-shaped roof. There are buttresses with set-offs at each end and ashlar stacks with cornices. The adjoining stable range, dating from the 18th or 19th century, is also made of coursed stone rubble and has a Collyweston stone roof at a lower level with a gabled end. It is two storeys tall, with ground-floor stable doors and windows, as well as a first-floor loft door and windows, all featuring flat stone arches. External stairs lead to the loft door.
