Description
The Old Smithy is a building likely dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble and features a hipped thatched roof. The structure is L-shaped, with a later 17th-century right-hand wing that has a dressed stone gable end marked with the date "1676" and a stack positioned above the cornice. The building has one storey and an attic. The central entrance consists of a panelled door, with a casement window to the left and a lean-to entrance with a Collyweston stone roof to the right. A brick ridge stack is located at the centre of the roof. The wing includes a gabled dormer and a sash window with glazing bars. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams and open fireplaces featuring timber bressumers.
