Description

The Church of St Augustine, located on Oundle Road in Peterborough, is a Grade I listed building. The west tower features a recess on its west side that reveals exposed Anglo-Saxon masonry, along with a small double splayed window. The remainder of the tower and the church were rebuilt in 1844, 1884, and 1896, but the original Norman twin bell openings, which have thick roll mouldings and a frieze below, remain intact. Additionally, there is a three-light window dating from around 1300 in the south transept, a 14th-century south arcade supported by octagonal piers, and a 13th-century font.
