Description
The Griffin Public House is an early 19th-century establishment featuring high-quality brick detailing. It is primarily constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings and has a Welsh slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall and has a three-window bay facade. The outer windows on the first and second floors are set in recesses with semi-circular arched heads. These windows are arched double-hung sashes with glazing bars and lighter red brick heads. In the central bay, the second floor includes a blind window set in its own recess, while the first floor has a flush dummy window with an arched head. The ground floor features a simple projecting timber fascia, and the doorway and windows are flanked by simple pilasters that have fine glazing bars. A projecting wrought-iron inn sign is attached to the central bay at first floor level. Some cobblestones remain in front of the public house. The side elevation includes two round-headed windows: the upper smaller one has glazing bars similar to those on the front elevation, while the lower larger one has a modern sash.
