Description

South Pillinge Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The earliest section is timber framed with some red brick infilling and some tile hanging. The 18th-century part is made of red brick, featuring random mottling due to some flared headers, while the 19th-century additions are constructed in lighter red brick. The roofs are covered with clay tiles. The 18th-century section is two rooms deep with a two-span roof, and the 17th-century block on the left forms a cross-wing. The house is two storeys high.

On the west elevation, there are two 3-light 19th-century casements on each floor, with the first-floor windows flanking an oeil-de-beouf. The central entrance features a 6-panel door, with the top pair of panels glazed, set within a moulded architrave and sheltered by an open porch. A brick band runs at the first-floor level. The right-hand gable end appears to be of earlier construction, with the ground and first floors laid in header bond. The left-hand 17th-century block has a 2-light casement on the first floor. Additionally, a single-storey 19th-century outbuilding projects from the ground floor.
