Description
Dove House Cottage is a former dovecote that belonged to the Old House, converted into a cottage in the 19th century and refenestrated in the 20th century. The building dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of red brick with a random scattering of vitrified headers. It features a clay tile roof that is hipped at the lower part and has a gablet at the upper part. The structure is small and square, comprising two storeys and attics.
On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casements on both the west and east elevations, with the east ones flanking a glazed door. The first floor has small round-arched single lights on the west, south, and east elevations, with the south and east lights featuring gauged brick heads. The attic includes small box dormers, and all windows have glazing bars. A brick band runs at first floor level, and there is a brick dentil cornice at the eaves. The gablet has three rows of doveholes on each end.
To the north, the main part of the property consists of two converted barns arranged in an L-plan. These barns are weatherboarded with clay tile roofs and were imported from elsewhere during the 20th-century renovations, thus they are not of historic interest.
