Description

The Manor is a house dating to circa 1700, located on Church Street, Aspley Guise. It is constructed of red brick with chequerwork and diamond patterns formed by vitrified headers, and has a 20th-century tile roof. The house is two storeys high with attics, and takes the form of an L-shaped plan.

The symmetrical front elevation has three windows. The ground and first-floor windows are early 19th-century small-paned cast-iron casements with pointed-arched lights. The attic has two box dormers, each containing a 2-light casement with glazing bars, flanking a central roof-light. A central doorway has a rectangular fanlight above a door of six flush panels. The doorway is sheltered by an open, flat-hooded porch with slim columns and trelliswork panels in a pointed-arched design that matches the windows. A brick band runs along the first floor level. Moulded timber eaves cornice tops the building. A red brick stack is visible on the right-hand gable end. A red brick ridge runs along the rear block, at the junction with the front block. A small, two-storeyed 20th-century addition, matching the style of the original building, extends from the right-hand gable end of the main block.
