Description
Ickwell Lodge is a lodge cottage that belongs to Old Warden Park, built in 1874 by Henry Clutton for Joseph Shuttleworth. The building is constructed from yellow brick with stone dressings and features a tiled roof. It has a two-room plan, is one storey high with attics, and is designed in the Jacobean style.
The east elevation includes a central half-canted porch with a segmental arched entrance that has a moulded surround and label, along with single lights on the side elevations. This porch is flanked by two-light windows that wrap around the corners, providing single lights to the gable ends. The parapet features square-headed arcading.
On the north gable end, there are single lights in both ground floor corners and a four-light window in the attic. The gable is stone-coped and topped with a finial. All windows have a three-centred head to each light and are adorned with moulded labels that merge into the wall. Each elevation has a stone band at the level of the hood mould and a moulded cornice at the first-floor sill level. The building also has a triple stack with diagonal stacks on the elevation. There is a 20th-century addition to the west.
