Description
The main block of the Conservative Club, located on St Andrew's Street, dates from the early 19th century at the front and probably the early 18th century at the rear. The front elevation is three storeys high and constructed of gault brick, featuring a symmetrical arrangement of sash windows in a 2:1:2 configuration, all with glazing bars and set beneath gauged brick heads. The entrance consists of a plain central doorway, and there is a stucco entablature with a cornice above it. The building has a panelled parapet with stone capping.
The rear of the building is also three storeys and is plastered, showcasing four sash windows that are widely and irregularly spaced. On the right side, there are 18th-century segmental stucco bow windows with three sashes. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles, and bold projecting eaves add to the architectural interest.
