Description

This is a 17th-century timber-framed building that was altered in the 19th century, located on Shortmead Street. It is two storeys high and has colourwashed roughcast walls. The roof is covered in concrete tiles. The front has three sash windows with glazing bars. To the left of the ground floor is a small 19th-century bay, and to the right is a modern shop front. A central carriage arch reveals the original timber framing. Number 40 features a flat, bracketed doorhood. The building is included on the list because of its contribution to the group value of the street.
