Description
Marshe Almshouses, built around 1743, are located on the north side of Church Street and are constructed of stucco with a Welsh slate roof at the front and an old tile roof at the back. The building is two storeys high and features six sash windows, along with six dummy windows arranged in pairs. There are three coupled doorways, with the side doorways supported by hoofs on consoles, while the central doorway has a pediment on consoles. The central section of the building slightly projects forward and includes a pediment with a tympanum that contains a circular panel displaying a Coat-of-Arms and the inscription "This Lodge was built and endowed pursuant to the Will of Mrs Blandina Marshe." The Marshe Almshouses are part of a group of buildings.
