Description
This tomb chest, located approximately 1 metre south of the chancel of the Church of Saint Guthlac, dates from 1713, as indicated by the inscription on top. The rest of the inscription and the accompanying coat of arms are not legible. The tomb chest is made of ashlar and is supported by a low red brick plinth. It stands about 1 metre high and features carved panel decorations on its sides and ends. Some of these panels include ribbons and swags, while others depict skulls and cross-bones. The central panel on the west end features a skull above a winged hourglass.
