Description
Astwick Bury is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with a clay tile roof. The house has a double-pile plan and stands two storeys high with attics. The west-facing (original) elevation features two canted bays on the ground floor, with sash windows containing glazing bars. The first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, and there are three gabled dormers with casement windows containing glazing bars in the attic. A central six-panel door is flanked by narrow pilasters and topped with a rectangular fanlight and a flat, bracketed hood. A brick band runs along the first floor level. The gables have brick coping, and there are red brick integral stacks at each gable end. The house is situated on a moated site, although much of the moat is believed to be relatively recent.
