Description

A block of cottages dating from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century. The majority of the buildings are timber framed with colourwashed roughcast render, though the eastern block of number 7 is brick faced. The roofs are tiled on number 7 and pantiled elsewhere. The front range was originally four cottages, of two storeys and attics. Numbers 5 and 6 each feature a flush panel door and a single two-light horizontal sash window with glazing bars on each floor; number 6 has a box dormer. Number 7, including a later lower block, has two windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor, along with a mid-19th-century rectangular bay window on the ground floor. It also has one box dormer in the attic. The windows are C20 casements, and there is a part-glazed door. The building has one brick ridge stack and two brick integral gable end stacks. A single-storeyed weatherboarded outhouse block is attached to the east gable end. The rear block originally comprised a pair of late 18th-century cottages, also of one storey and attics, with three plank doors and three sash windows with glazing bars to the ground floor. Three slated, sloping-roofed dormers, each with a two-light casement with glazing bars, are visible on the roof. Finally, there are two red brick ridge stacks.
