Description

The Cross Inn, comprising numbers 4 and 6 Sandy High Road in Beeston, dates to 1792, as indicated by a date plaque on number 4. The building is of red brick construction, although number 6 has been colourwashed. It is a two-storey building with attics, featuring two hipped dormers fitted with Yorkshire casement windows containing glazing bars. The roof is covered in old clay tiles and has modillioned eaves. The right-hand side of the building has a modern casement window, while three sash windows with glazing bars are also present. Number 6 also has a full-height canted bay window with three sashes, each containing three panes. The front door of number 4 is a six-panel door, with the top four panels being fielded, set within panelled reveals and topped by a carved and pedimented hood supported on shaped and carved modillions. Number 6 has two six-panel doors, each set beneath a flat doorhood.
