Description
Nos. 1 and 3 Church Road are part of a group of houses at the northern end of a row, which includes Nos. 27 and 29 High Street. These buildings date from the 18th century, possibly incorporating elements of an earlier structure, with some 19th-century additions. They feature a colourwashed roughcast exterior over a timber-framed structure and have clay tile roofs. The main block is two storeys high with a four-room layout. The 19th-century block that projects from the rear forms Nos. 1 and 3 Church Road. The main elevation primarily consists of three-light leaded casements, with some 20th-century replacements. No. 27 has a 20th-century door accessed by brick steps, while the doorway to No. 29 is located on the northern gable end. Both gable ends have red brick integral chimney stacks. The rear block displays a variety of windows and retains some cast iron lattice casements in the gabled dormers.
