Description
Hyde Mill Farm is a miller's house built around 1860 to 1880, constructed from local red brick with some vitrified headers. The building is two storeys high and has a double pile plan with two additional rear wings, all topped with flipped slate roofs. The front elevation features a central porch with a hipped slate roof supported by two cast iron columns. There is a secondary door at the west end, which has six panels and a bracketed flat hood. The front also includes five casement windows with glazing bars, set under shallow cambered heads, arranged in two or three lights. On the east front, there is a bay window with a hipped roof and sash windows on the rear section of the main block. The west side of the house is adjacent to mill buildings that extend over the Hertfordshire boundary.
