Description
This is a tomb chest located approximately 2 metres south of the eastern part of the south aisle at the Church of St Nicholas in Tingrith. It commemorates Robert Trevor Esq, who died in 1852, and his family. The tomb chest is made of ashlar and is designed in an ornate Gothic style. It has an elongated octagonal shape with a hipped roof, standing about 1.5 metres tall. Each corner features a decorative buttress that rises to a gabled and crocketed pinnacle, adorned with small grotesque heads as drop finials on the gablets. Each side panel of the chest is decorated with a moulded arch, topped by a frieze of Tudor flowers. The ridge of the roof and the parapet between the pinnacles are also embellished with Tudor flower cresting.
