Description

Park Farmhouse and the adjoining barn are located in Podington, with the earliest part of the farmhouse dating back to 1597, as indicated on the west gable. The house underwent extensions and alterations in the 18th century, first with a datestone from 1704 on the north gable end, followed by a further wing built out to the north in 1795. All construction is done in coursed limestone rubble, and while the roofs are currently clad in clay tiles, the later additions were originally thatched. The gables feature stone coping.

The farmhouse is mainly two storeys tall, although the northern wing has parts that include attics. The windows are all late 19th century sashes without glazing bars, arranged asymmetrically except on the east elevation, which has four first-floor sashes and three ground-floor sashes. There is also a doorway with a trelliswork porch that has decorated bargeboards. The north elevation includes a small gabled dormer.

The late 18th century wing has an incised datestone on the north gable end reading O.B. 1795. This wing also features a 14th-century crocketed canopy head and a small crocketed ogee-panelled head. The east wall contains fragments of medieval masonry, believed to have come from Banbury church, which was demolished in the late 18th century, with materials brought by Mr. Orlebar.

At the back of the farmhouse, there is a rubble stone barn dated 1750 on the west gable end. This barn was originally thatched but now has a concrete tile roof.
