Description
Cross End House is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 17th century, featuring alterations from the 19th century. The building is primarily timber framed, with some sections replaced in brick, and is mostly plastered and color washed. It has an old clay tile roof and is designed in a T-plan layout. The front block consists of two storeys and attics, while the rear block is partly two storeys (raised in 1841) and has one storey with attics beyond.
On the front elevation, the ground floor includes one fixed light window with glazing bars, a 19th-century canted bay window, and a part-glazed door on the right-hand side. The first floor features two 2-light casement windows with glazing bars. A central red brick ridge stack serves a back-to-back fireplace that is partly timber framed. The west elevation retains several 2-light horizontal sash windows with glazing bars, along with a gabled dormer that has leaded lights on the lower block.
