Description
Nos. 272, 273, and 274 on Bedford Road are cottages dating from the 17th century, with a plaque indicating restoration by Samuel Whitbread in 1913. They have a timber-framed structure with a pebbledashed exterior and an old clay tile roof. The cottages feature a three-room plan and rise to two storeys. Each floor has three 3-light casements with leaded lights. There are paired doors at the division between the two left-hand bays, aligned with a red brick double ridge stack, and another door at the division between the two right-hand bays. All doors are topped with small bracketed doorhoods. Additionally, there is a red brick integral stack at the north gable end.
