Description
Nos. 270 and 271 on Bedford Road are a pair of cottages dating from 1763, with restoration work completed in 1909 by Samuel Whitbread. The cottages have a pebbledashed exterior and a timber frame, topped with a half-hipped old clay tile roof. Each cottage features a two-room plan and stands two storeys high. There are four three-light casement windows with glazing bars on each floor, and each cottage has a small cut-bracketed flat wood above its two doors. A red brick central ridge stack is present, along with an additional external stack on the northern gable end. There is also a lean-to addition at the rear.
