Description

Cardington War Memorial is a memorial cross made of Portland stone, featuring a bronze Sword of Sacrifice. It is situated on the main path within Cardington Cemetery, directly across from St Mary’s Church and its churchyard. The memorial stands about 3 meters tall and consists of a Latin cross that rises from a tapering shaft, which is set upon an octagonal plinth and a two-stepped base.

The plinth has plaques affixed to each face. The main dedication on the memorial reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918 1939 – 1945 (NAMES)." The other faces of the plinth are inscribed with the names of those who fell in the wars.
