Description

The statue in the garden of Howard's House dates from the 18th century. It features lead figures on a stone pedestal, depicting a boy ice skating with game birds strapped to his waist, accompanied by a running dog carrying a game bird in its mouth. It is reputed to be of Russian origin and is believed to have been a gift to John Howard following his first visit to Russia in 1781.
